No Vacancy: I'm Sorry, Every Room Is Occupied!

And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

Luke 2:6-7

It’s hard to imagine that our Creator was born. (and yet, He existed before He was born)

It’s also hard to imagine that the name of our Creator is so despised in culture today.

There is something about the name of Jesus that causes a reaction. I find it oddly strange that you can use God in just about any conversation or writing without a blink of an eye. But once you use the name of Jesus, agitation becomes evident.

Jesus, in His most vulnerable state, was a threat to the government and culture. During Jesus' birth, the Jewish sect refused to accept Him as the coming Messiah. It’s unfathomable to believe that baby Jesus would bring so much disruption among the religious and the governments at that time. After all, He was just a baby.

Things haven’t changed much. There was once a time in my life when Christmas was celebrated with nativity scenes, music centered around the birth of Jesus, family, and “Merry Christmas” was commonly heard when shopping.

Today, Jesus is a byword for rules, laws, and regulations. A disrupter of lives and an inconvenience to the world. When in fact, the disruption He brings to lives is for good. With His forgiveness comes peace and joy everlasting.

It is a pity to experience the rejection of Jesus in culture today; I am reminded that Mary and Joseph were refused service at the inn because there was no room. The King of kings and Lord of lords was born in a manger, not a castle or mansion.

The Bible Speaks - there was no room for Jesus at the inn. Is there room in your heart for Jesus today?
