Wouldn’t it be nice if every person went to heaven?
As the year 2022 comes to a close, it is my heart's desire that my family, friends, and strangers will come to know the Lord Jesus. It’s not like I can accept Christ on their behalf, but I certainly can put more effort into sharing Christ through my life.
I read a great article on Medium, a blogging platform, titled “Biblical Christians - Should we be making our opinion known?”
As we all know, expressing our opinions can land us in a heap of trouble. Well, that’s what they used to say, now it will cost you a loss of likes, followers, subscribers, or offensive comments. But, let’s make no mistake, expressing our opinions can also cost a family member or good friend.
We can all agree, in these last few years, we have witnessed a change in how we communicate with each other. Culture has become extremely sensitive to words and how they are used. Merriam-Webster dictionary added 370 words for September 2022 alone. We are talking about hundreds of words being added yearly to the dictionary.
With communication comes misunderstanding - or is it fear?
My inability to communicate well with words and language kept me from speaking or writing my opinion. I understood that expressing my thoughts on theology, politics, and life would cause differences of opinion among those reading my writings. So, in one way or another, I was reluctant to express myself, especially when it came to social and political issues as a Christian.
I started to have a change of mind and heart earlier this year. As followers of Jesus, we are commanded to make Jesus known to all the world - not only in church or when we feel most comfortable. But also if others disagree. Matthew 10:32-33
Even though I was compelled by the Word of God, I was actually encouraged by our intellectual and mesmerizing communicators at our nation's helm. Politicians speak on policies that are so damaging to our nation, yet speak and write so poetic and convincingly.
Communication through language and words will always cause one to have an opinion - And that's a good thing. In fact, opinions and the expression of different opinions are healthy, and it’s how culture grows.
So, as Christians, we should live in a biblical worldview. We shouldn’t allow culture to muzzle the believer from thinking and speaking or, in my case, writing. My intention is to write truth based on God’s word to the best of my ability, with the purpose of proclaiming Jesus Christ to all that read my articles. That one day, we will see each other in heaven.
Your opinion matters - and so does mine.
_____
Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Ephesians 4:13-16
